message from the scientific
committee chair
Vascular diseases are common, only that recognition and methods of referral might be a gap in some areas of the Philippines.
Hence, the UP-PGH Cardiology Alumni Association (UPCAAI) led by the vascular specialists, will present comprehensive panel discussions on the most common vascular diseases at the emergency and outpatient setting.
Primary care and family medicine physicians are integral part of healthcare because they are the first-contact doctors in our community. Hence, we involved them in our panel discussions. We believe that this form of multidisciplinary involvement, together with our general and interventional cardiologists, and esteemed vascular surgeons, will lessen the burden of sick Filipino patients and their families.
We aim to impart confidence in recognition and management of the most common vascular emergencies - acute pulmonary embolism, acute limb ischemia, and acute aortic dissection, as well as chronic vascular cases - chronic venous disease, peripheral arterial disease and abdominal aortic aneurysm.
Ultimately, the goal of the summit is to save more lives and limbs of vascular patients.
We dedicate our carefully selected vascular topics to our patients and primary care physicians.
